Description | Plastocyanin is a “blue” copper protein which catalyzes electron transfer between the cytochrome b6 .f complex and P-700, the reaction center of photosystem I. Plastocyanin is a nuclear encoded polypeptide in all eukaryotic photosynthetic organisms where it has been studied. It is synthesized as a pre-protein of approximate molecular weight 17,000, imported post-translationally into chloroplasts, and processed to its mature form of approximate molecular weight 10,500 within the plastid. |
